The city of Austin is classic in its style and past history. More so, the 'Steam Train' that it boasts of adds to class of the city in a lot of ways. There were a lot of trains that were running earlier under the scheme presented by the association to the city council. But due to the dilapidated condition of many of them, the services of such trains had to be cancelled. They were re-structured and were put back on track recently, when the association gathered money through volunteer organizations.

There are a lot of features of the Steam Train. Each coach can handle as much as 60 passengers. The train lacks air-conditioning, but has large open windows which give the train certain look and cools the passengers naturally. The Steam Train of Austin travels to a number of destinations. The tours normally come in the form of several packages which people can choose from. There's the 'Hill County' flyer which is an entire day package trip of the city. Then there is the 'Bertram' flyer which is a short two hour guided trip with very limited number of stoppages. There are other special holiday packages too which include the special themed trips during 'Christmas' and 'Halloween'.
