The park has five reserved sections and multiple recreational opportunities. The 351 acres of land is divided into 1 playground, 3 picnic tables, 2 basketball courts, 2 barbeque pits and 1 off leash dog area. Other options include 2 swimming areas, 2 tennis courts and 2 multipurpose activity areas. Hence, there are lots of opportunities for the kids to enjoy themselves. The bike trails extending for 2 miles is also famous.
Take a ride on the Zilker Zephyr, which is a miniature train around the park. You will have the most unforgettable experience of your life. If you are interested in taking a ride on the lake, paddle a canoe on Town Lake. There is also a Disc Golf course with 9 holes to delight the golfers.
If you are not a sport enthusiast, take a stroll around the Zilker Botanical Gardens which includes Austin Area Garden Center and the Taniguchi Oriental Garden. The Austin Nature and Science Center and Splash Education Center offer interactive sessions for kids.

The Zilker Hillside Theater plays host to the various events and live performances in the area. The Umlauf Sculpture Garden and Museum located in the southern end of the park showcases the work of Charles Umlauf. Some of the events held in Zilker Park include Ballet performance, Freedom Festival and Fireworks, Kite Festival, Jazz Festival, Austin Shakespeare Festival and Austin Sunshine Camp. The admission fee is under $10.
