Zilker Park is one of the biggest attractions in Austin. This recreational park is spread over 350 acres in the heart of the city and is named after Andrew Jackson Zilker, the benefactor who donated the land on which the park was built. The park is home to several attractions within like the Barton Spring Pool, Zilker Botanical Garden and the Zilker Hillside Theater. One of the most popular attractions in the Zilker Park is the boat rentals within the park.

The boat rentals are available on the Barton Springs which are structured in the form of four fresh water springs. The springs support a delicate ecology and are home to the endangered specie of Salamander. The springs discharge about 31 million gallons of water per day on an average. The origination of the water source comes from an aquifer which is mainly composed of limestone and the water source is mainly fed by rainwater.

The boat rentals in the Zilker Park were started in 1969 on the banks of the creek along the downstream of the Barton Springs Swimming Pool. There are over 100 kayaks and canoes available for rental at reasonable rates between 9 AM and dark in the summers and 10 AM and dark in the winters. These boat rentals are a perfect recreation for families and romantic couples alike. The rates of the boat are $10 for 1 hour and $40 for the whole day. The canoes can comfortably accommodate 2 adults and 2 children or 3 adults.

The Zilker Park boat rental is a much loved attraction for the residents of Austin. The spring is renowned for its beauty and the lake is serene and very scenic.
