
Governor's Mansion Austin Texas
The 153-year old Governor's Mansion was designed by Abner Cook in an ancient Greek style. It was originally 6000 square feet but a remodeling done in 1914 increased its size to 87920 square feet. It's located on 1010 Colorado Street. It's the oldest continuously occupied home west of the Mississippi. The 2008 Fire Tragedy
On June 8, 2008 the mansion was partially destroyed by a 4-alarm early morning fire. The then occupants Governor Rick Perry and his family had just moved out to pave way for renovation work. The American government allocated US$22 million for restoration of the mansion.
