How to get to Austin Convention Center? After you have a general idea of where Austin Convention Center is located, you must require the ways to reach the center. If you just arrive at Austin Bergstrom International Airport, which is 11 miles away from the Austin Convention Center, you can take Austin Convention Center and turn right into S I-35. Exit 234B, go straight and turn left into E. 1st Street / Cesar Chavez Street E. You will then find Austin Convention Center at the right hand.

If you come from I-35 North or South, you then go on I-35 and exit 234B. Stay straight and turn left into E. 1st Street / Cesar Chavez Street E. The building will then be found on your right.

Austin Convention Center, also known as Neal Kocurek Memorial Austin Convention Center, is named after a civic leader - Dr.W. Neal Kocurek. As a multi-purpose convention center with a seating capacity of 3200, it used to be home to the Austin Toros basketball team.

Enclosing about 81,880 square meters, the Austin Convention Center consists of 54 meeting rooms and one of the largest ballrooms in Texas. Plus, it offers two huge parking garages for driving guests.

Parking Garages: There are two garages can be found inside the Austin Convention Center: the 2nd Street Garage and the 5th Street Garage. They are both spacious and can offer room for hundreds of cars.

(1) The 2nd Street Garage is located at 201 East 2nd Street. It's a 10-storey garage which is adequate for 1000 vehicles. It's just 2 blocks west of the building and you can entry the garage from Brazos or San Jacinto Street.

(2) Situated at 601East 5th Street, the 5th Street Garage is northeast of the building. With its entrance on 5th Street, between Red River and Sabine Streets, this 5-storey Garage could give enough space for 685 vehicles.

Both the 2nd Street Garage and the 5th Street Garage would keep your car safe and sound when you stay inside the Austin Convention Center and watch your favorite shows. To park in these two garages, you need to pay a certain amount of parking fees.

Parking Fees: Fees would occur when you park in the 2nd Street Garage or the 5th Street Garage. Normally, parking within 15 minutes would not cause any fee. Staying for 1 hour or less costs you 3 dollars while it takes 5 dollars to park for 2 hours. Parking more than 2 hours but less than 7 hours would cost 7 dollars. After that, 2 more dollars will be charged for parking within 10 hours. Fees for parking exceeding 10 hours but within 24 hours is 11 dollars.

Parking fees mentioned above should be paid when you exit the parking garage. However, you need to pay on entry for parking on Friday and Saturday from 6 p.m. to 2 a.m.
