The Marathon organized on Austin, Texas is an annual event. Austin marathon was first held in the year 1992, on 15th of February. Austin is known for hosting both half and full marathons. For the initial 15 years this Marathon was sponsored by Freescale Semiconductor. The Marathons held in 2007 and 2008 had AT&T as the official sponsor. However, in 2009 the event was arranged with no title sponsor supporting it.

Austin marathon 2009 had both experienced and new athletes as competitors. However, all of them trained themselves with the mission of winning this esteemed title. The list of athletes included both runners and walkers. They were served with sufficient food and drinks, so that they could keep themselves hydrated and energized for completing the entire race.
2354 male athletes and 1607 female athletes successfully finished the race. Jeremy Borling of United States got the title as the male winner. He finished the race in 2 hours 30 minute and 5 seconds. United States also own the women's title. Elle Phisny of USA completed the race in just 2 hours 52 minutes and emerged as the winner.
