The 2008 Fire Tragedy

On June 8, 2008 the mansion was partially destroyed by a 4-alarm early morning fire. The then occupants Governor Rick Perry and his family had just moved out to pave way for renovation work. The American government allocated US$22 million for restoration of the mansion.
