
Visiting Zilker Botanical Garden - "The Jewel in the Heart of Austin"

Established in 1955 as a non-profitable organization this garden is open for everyone and there are no fees for admission. The garden is spread across on a 30 acres land near the south bank of river Colorado and is one such place where there is extreme calmness.
The Zilker Botanical Garden has around 10 theme gardens and some of them are City of Austin's Green Garden, Cactus and Succulent Garden, Hartman Prehistoric Garden, Herb and Fragrance Garden, Isamu TaniguchiI Oriental Garden, Mabel Davis Rose Garden, Doug Blachly Butterfly Trail and Garden, Pioneer Village and others.
There are number of events organized in the garden throughout the year out of which some events are free where as some require admission fee. A very popular paid event is the Zilker Garden Festival which takes place once a year. You can yourself see the popularity of this event by visiting the garden itself on that day. Besides the events the garden also organizes educational tours for both adults and children.
